Wow can’t believe it is already Saturday. This week has just flown by…..already getting sad that we need to start thinking about packing up and leaving. Today was another busy…but great day! Right off the bat I have to say that in the blog yesterday we thought we had experienced the hottest day…..we were wrong! By 11 o’clock today we had to go buy a “moushwa” to keep the sweat from rolling in our eyes while we moved ANOTHER 20,000lbs of food in to the “Depot” for safe keeping. We all decided it was a great workout and we don’t need to go to the gym for a while! It was all worth it knowing how long that food will provide a meal each day for the children in the schools. These kids in Kalalun don’t even know if they will have a meal each day….sometimes for days on end. That’s the sad part though….only 1 in 4 kids gets to go to school. So please pray for school sponsorship for these children. How can you not when you have these kids walking up to you telling you “ mwen gran goo”. (I am hungry)
After we finished moving the food today, we headed to St. Marc to do some work at the school there. There was some painting that needed to be done. Funny how God has worked all this out this week. The team is so well equipped to do all the projects we needed to complete this week and everyone worked so well together….we shared a lot of laughter which is just as important. The joy of the Lord is our strength and sharing that joy just made everyone bond together and see the same vision of Dr. Kerry and New Vision Ministries. After the painting was done at the school in St. Marc, we headed to the market. It just wouldn’t be the same to at least just walk through one time. It gives you an entirely new perspective. Pictures cannot tell the story of this experience. Seeing the way they sell their meat alone is something no one will ever forget. Hundreds of people walking bumping up against one another……searching for the best deal on the items their families need. There were times that the group would get separated…..we must of shown a bit of concern on our face because small children would tell us in creole that the group was just ahead and would motion to us to the direction to…..I guess we stood out like a sore thumb too….that could have been it!
Dr. Kerry and his wife Joy and one of their children (Jacey) were with us all day. With the business of the days, we haven’t had much time to really hear their stories and their heart for Haiti and we had that opportunity to day.
Looking from the outside….I have to say that I see that passion for Haiti in the entire team now!!! I can see their desire to want to honor God and glorify him by being a part of what Celebration is doing here with New Vision Ministries…..Just love it!!!
